Walking and rambling

Whether it’s a short walk round Bradley Woods, or a longer walk in our stunning countryside, there are plenty of opportunities for you to get your boots on. For the adventurous, the Silver Lincs Way is a 25K staged walk, starting in Grimsby, soon you’ll be rambling through pretty villages and areas of outstanding natural beauty before finishing in the market town of Louth where there’s plenty of stopping off places to refresh or stay the night.

For something a little shorter, why not take a stroll along Cleethorpes Promenade, or along the sea wall? There’s more than 10 official walking routes in our patch. Download your route map from North East Lincolnshire Council’s website before you go to plot where to pause and catch your breath.

Cleethorpes Country Park even has a designated swimming lake for your dog! Or why not visit our nature reserves where you can explore unique habitats, flora and fauna.

Two or four wheels…

Mountain biking in the countryside

If you prefer two wheels, there are plenty of popular cycle routes around North East Lincolnshire. From three miles for the beginners to much longer stretches, there’s something for everyone. But if you prefer to watch the action, just a short journey away, you can see stages on events such as the British National Cycling Championships and the Lincoln Grand Prix, or visit Cadwell Park just down the road for some great motorsports action.

Grimsby Cycle Hub based at Grimsby Train Station provides secure indoor parking from just £1 per day, with showers and locker facilities also available on site for exercise enthusiasts! For those weekend family rides, cycles can also be hired and delivered anywhere within North East Lincolnshire.

Or something a little different?

There’s plenty of outside activities to keep the whole family entertained…  We have three horse riding schools within North East Lincolnshire which offer lessons for all levels as well as livery facilities;

Cottagers Plot Riding School, Laceby has been established for over 20 years.

Grange Farm Riding School, Barnoldby le Beck set in 42 acres of purpose built facilities.

Weels be Park Riding School providing tuition for beginners and expert riders and is also certified as Riding For The Disabled (RDA).

Seven golf clubs where you can join and take in the scenery as you exercise; four athletics clubs which regularly host meetings and formal races; and finally three yachting clubs which grace our shores.

Grimsby Town Football Club plays its home games at Blundell Park which is actually in Cleethorpes! Follow the Mariners for a great afternoon in the Pontoon Stand with fish and chips for afters to celebrate.

The treasure chest doesn’t stop giving in North East Lincolnshire. Open water swimming, paddle-boarding, kite surfing, wind surfing or jet skiing, skate and BMX parks, karting, climbing, quad biking, archery and lots more!
