Educating future generations
If you have children from the age of 2-18 then we can offer them quality education within North East Lincolnshire. We take our future generations seriously and have some of the best schools and colleges in the country.
There are more than 70 schools, academies and colleges in our region, several of which have achieved or exceeded national grade averages. We put a strong focus on quality and as a result, many of our schools are rated as ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’.
If your children also enjoy extra curricular activities and after school clubs, then lots of our schools also provide sports and performance based clubs, helping children and teenagers to advance and nurture additional skills and talents.
A number of our schools also receive Pupil Premium, which is additional government funding given to help raise attainment levels and develop skills and talents amongst disadvantaged students. This funding helps to close the gap between them and their peers and is provided to a number of our specialist schools and pupil referral units, as well as some of our mainstream schools.
If you’re looking for independent choice in the heart of Grimsby, there’s either St Martins Preparatory School which offers education for pupils aged 2 – 11 or St James School, one of the Woodard Foundation Schools, providing a non-selective day and boarding school for pupils aged 2-18.
Starting the journey
There are a number of excellent nursery and crèche facilities in North East Lincolnshire, all providing exemplary care and activities that give children a great start to their school lives. Many of our infant schools also provide nursery facilities, meaning you have plenty of options to choose from.
We put a high regard on pre-school care and Ofsted recently awarded Scartho Nursery School with an ‘Outstanding’ grade.
Activities within our pre-schools range from developing children’s listening, understanding and speaking skills, to making dens, exploring secret gardens and discovering winter wonderlands.
If you have children aged between 5-11, we have plenty of remarkable primary schools and academies in the region, many offering schooling throughout primary learning, meaning children can remain in the same school throughout their infant and junior education.
Our primary results speak for themselves. With around 90% of students achieving the top grades across reading, writing and maths in our patch, it’s somewhere you can be confident that your child will get a great start.
